As summer speeds towards
us so does the end of the year! Can you believe it’s so close? Before we find
the rush of December and Christmas upon us, now is the time to stop to
take some time
out, nourish and prepare ourselves for what is known as the “silly”
season!! Here at Agama Yoga Centre, from Monday 24 to Friday 29, we are
offering you the opportunity to take time to be with yourself.
Intensive 5 Day City Retreat at the beginning
& end of your day Nov 24 – 28 Practices to clear your mind, to prepare you to stay focused for the
rest of the year.
Early morning energizing practice at 7 - 8am
Early evening meditative practice at 5 - 6pm
There is also a Meditative Practice on a Wednesday evenings, 6pm to 7pm, starting 26 Nov that will assist in letting
go of unnecessary clutter and open a fresh new space. Everyone is free to come
along.
A new Yoga Studies class follows on from this class for those who would like to stay. Also open to
everyone. Starting 26 Nov Wednesdays 7pm – 8pm
A Chanting Workshop is being held on Saturday
13 December that will explore the use of sound, linking the mind with the body
- developing a very special connection within yourself.

New Yoga Classes Starting In November 2008 at
AYC
1. Early Evening
Practice: Unwind
and Relax
Monday evenings 5 – 6 pm. Restore your energy levels and prepare for your
evening. Please check the website for more details. Running NOW, and is
ongoing.
2. Meditative Practice:
Starting on Wednesday 26th, 2008 there will be an ongoing meditative practice,
drawing from the many tools of yoga including yoga sutra, visualization and
chanting. These practices will be progressive in bringing stillness and
clarity.
3. Yoga Sutra Study: “Yoga for the Mind”
A
weekly class that can very effectively be taken along with the meditative
practice which precedes it. This class is useful for those students wanting to
deepen their understanding of yoga and themselves. Open to all.
Christmas to New Year Intensive
Sat 27 to Wed 31 December
Our final Salute to the
end of the year and a warm welcome to the New Year ahead! Two practices will be
offered each day, 7.00- 8.30am and 9.30 – 10.30am. These practices will
encourage you to clear and close the file at the end of the year in order to
make way for the new.
AYC closes on Friday 19 Dec and re-opens

Please Note:
For regular yoga classes the AYC
closes at the end of Friday 19 December 2008 and re-opens on Monday 5 January
2009. The AYC is open for the special Christmas to New Year intensive
Saturday27 to the Wednesday 31 December 2008, 7 – 8.30 am and 9.30 – 10.30am.
Students
Please Note:
ALL open classes: you are welcome to come along casually – no need
to book, but please arrive at AYC five minutes early to meet the teacher and
inform them of any relevant conditions. eg:
back pain.
Experienced classes: are recommended for people with yoga experience
and for those who enjoy variations that offer physical challenge. These classes
are Thursday evening 7.00-8.30pm and Saturday morning 10.30 -11.45am. There
will be more opportunities offered in 2009.
With 2009 just around
the corner Agama Yoga centre will be offering more new classes in January:
Pranayama Practice:
Monday mornings 7.00 – 8.00 am and Friday evenings 6.00–7.00 pm.
Pranayama classes will focus on the breath, (a great tool to focus and clear
the mind). Asana and visualization will also be used. These classes will aim to
set you up for the week ahead then create space for the weekend to come.
Registration of interest in these specialized classes is invited.
Beginners’ course:
Monday evenings, 6.30 – 7.30pm and Saturday mornings, 9.00 – 10.00am. This will be a 10 week program that will
cover all the basic guidelines of yoga practice, moving the body, to build
strength and flexibility, while connecting with the breath and developing self
awareness.
Yoga Sutra study:
Wednesday
evenings 7.00-8.00pm. The Yoga Sutra-s are presented
in 4 chapters, in these weekly sessions we will be working with the first two
chapters which explore the nature of our mind and the goal of yoga -which is to
reach a state of mind that is full of attention. On the practical level, we
will discover some useful and insightful ways to help us attain a balanced
state of mind for every day life.
