T Krishnamacharya is regarded as the most influential yogi of modern times. During the one hundred years of his life, he inspired thousands of practitioners worldwide. Through his students, Indra Devi, BKS Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois and TKV Desikachar, this “master of masters” has helped shape the understanding and practice of Yoga around the globe.

As a teacher his principle was,“Teach what is inside you, not as it applies to you, to yourself, but as it applies to the other.” He strongly believed that yoga should be adapted to the individual, never the individual to yoga. In refusing to standardize the practice and teaching methodology, he created an understanding of yoga relevant for a broad spectrum of students. * “The Heart Of Yoga” by TKV Desikachar

TKV Desikachar was a student of his father for three decades, during which time he was immersed in the practice and application of all the tools of Yoga. His study also included Vedanta philosophy and Ayurveda. He is the tradition bearer of these teachings, traveling internationally to present the many benefits of yoga and has authored many books including the very popular “The Heart of Yoga” and “Health, Healing and Beyond”.

In 1976 he founded a non-profit Yoga Centre, the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram to share and propagate the teachings of his father and teacher. Known as the KYM, it is now internationally regarded as a most respected Yoga Centre. People from all over the world come to learn and practice the different aspects of yoga. Many people see the KYM as their “yoga home”
